Vital documents such as bank details, emails, and family finance information as well as important photos are all stored on your computer, and if for any reason you lose it, you would be in deep trouble or rather in deep regret.

We are all protective enough of our paperwork, keeping it fireproof filing boxes, and yet we do not do the same for our electronic data. Very few of us take the time to make a regular back up of our vital information, despite the fact that it can so easily be lost. A power surge, the theft of a computer, or a domestic accident can all result in us losing all of our valuable data, and yet, making a back up is a simple task that takes almost no effort at all. With an Aegis Mini 1.8” USB Ultra Portable Hard Drive you can make a back up of all your data and keep it safe. It is small enough to keep in your pocket, yet big enough to contain upwards of 30GB of files, making it the perfect companion for your computer.

The Aegis Mini 1.8” USB Ultra Portable Hard Drive comes in a choice of sizes from 30GB up to an enormous 100GB, and yet is incredibly lightweight and weighs just 3.5oz. Unlike many competing products, this tiny device does not require an external power supply, and simply plugs into the USB port on your computer.

Whether you are looking for a portable drive to let you transfer files between your home and office; additional storage space because you have filled up the drive on your computer; or want to keep a secure back up of all your important files, the Aegis mini 1.8” USB Ultra Portable Hard Drive is the answer to your needs.

This mini hard drive is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers, and is fully shock mounted to protect the internal components when you move it, and comes complete with all the security and encryption software that you need to ensure that no-one but you can gain access to any sensitive information that you have.

The Aegis Mini USB Drive ranges from $119 to $279 depending on its storage size. You can read customer reviews and purchase the drive from Apricon web store.

Getting the perfect color balance on your computer monitor will allow you to get more from your computer. From getting the right shades and tones on photographs to make sure that they look great when they are printed, through to ensuring that movies look just as good on your computer as they do in the cinema, getting the colors right on your PC or Mac is essential.

Work is easier on the eye when your computer screen is well set up, and you will find that when the colors are correct on your monitor, you suffer from less eye strain than you would normally when working with images or on web sites.

The Pantone Huey is a special device that is compatible with almost all computers and both CRT and LCD monitors. It works by analyzing the ambient light and adjusting the contrast and brightness levels on your computer monitor to ensure that the colors are displayed properly and appropriately to the conditions.

The Pantone Huey simply plugs into your computer, and instantly adjusts the tones on the screen to suit your taste. Once you have set up your preferences, Huey remembers them, and will constantly work to maintain perfect levels at all times.

Instead of finding yourself in a situation where the photo you adjusted looked great in the afternoon, and yet doesn’t print out properly in the evening, you will be sure that whatever time of day, and under whatever conditions you are using your computer, you can enjoy exactly the same screen details and get exactly the same picture quality as you want.

If you are a designer, or your work relies on accuracy, then having a Pantone Huey to hand is more and more essential. The standards expected on most computer graphics projects today are unforgiving, and in order to meet the strict demands of a client, you need to make sure that you get consistency.

Once you start to work with a monitor that offers the same performance whatever the conditions around you, you will discover that you can achieve a higher standard of perfection with your graphics than ever before. Pantone Huey will also allow you to enjoy a higher quality of entertainment through your computer monitor than ever. More lifelike images, better quality films, and more believable in game environments are all just a step away.

For more information about the $89 Pantone Huey, visit Pantone’s product page or read up on customers’ reviews.

So, you have just purchased your Mac Mini and you would like to have the perfect monitor to match your cute little 6″ by 6″ Mac that is versatile enough to act as a LCD TV.

Consider Apple’s Cinema Display range of monitors. All of them matched the Mac Mini very well down to the color and curvature. With 4 million pixels in the 30″ monitor, it gives you enough space to work on the Mac and watch movies at the same time. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone.

The hinges that supports this display can be “unhinged” so that you can mount it directly on the wall. This is great if you have limited space in your room or study. Using an industry-standard DVI (Digital Video Interface), you can use this display as a second display or use it on your personal computer. DVI connections ensure that you get crystal clear displays with full clarity and sharpness, all the time.

Each Cinema Display monitors come with 2 FireWire ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports. This adds more flexibility for you if you have more devices to connect to your Mac Mini. You can have a choice of 20″, 23″ High Definition or 30″ High Definition Apple Cinema Displays.

For more information about Apple’s Cinema Display, please visit Apple’s web site.

One of the main appeals of the current range of Apple computers is in their stunning design. The sleek lines and clean finishes of the iMac and Mac Mini, coupled with their easy to use interfaces have made them amongst the most popular Apple computers of all time, and converted millions of people to make the change from regular PCs.

Simply putting the box and monitor on a regular desk is no way to show off the stunning design of an Apple computer, so why not get yourself an iGo minimalist desk, which has been specifically designed in order to fit in perfectly with the design ethic of the latest Apple iMac and Mac mini computers, and allow you to extend the great design of the computer to your working environment.Â

The iGo desk is easy to set up and fully adjustable to allow it to be used comfortably in either a standing or seated position. It is completely stable, and has four deceptively light looking legs that can be fitted with static feet, or alternatively smooth rolling casters that allow the desk to be moved around into any position. It is specially designed to perfectly fit either the Mac Mini with a cinema display, or the standard iMac, and perfectly complements the design of either computer.

The small size of the desk makes it possible to move into almost any position within the home or office, and allow you to enjoy working in whatever place makes you feel most productive and comfortable.

The iGo desk is also a great addition to any showroom, and brings a touch of class to what ever room it is stored in. It makes showing off designs to clients a breeze, and can be set up in a matter of minutes in order to make it an option to take with you to exhibitions or road shows if you want your display to look as good as the computer that you are showing it on.

Thanks to its hard wearing construction, and timeless minimalist design, the iGo is the kind of furniture that fits well into any room, and is well made enough to last for years, or at least as long as Apple Computers remain as stylish as they are at the moment.

The iGo Minimalist Desk is available in 5 designs; depending on the Mac model you have and the sitting/standing positions with the price ranging from $333 to $499.

What’s so special about the Belkin Pre-N router? Just 2 words to sum up about this Belkin router; faster & futher.

Further – 800% increase over the standard coverage of WiFi 802.11g standard. This translate to a larger wireless coverage, better signal quality and fewer signal drops.

Faster – 600% increase in speed compared to the WiFi 802.11g standard. This means you can move files, share documents and play multiplayer games efficiently with other devices in the same network.

Of course, if you intend to benefit from the further and faster wireless connection, you will need a Pre-N Network Card which is available from Belkin too ($74.99). Even if you do not have a Pre-N card, do not fret; the Belkin Pre-N router is backward compatible with the current 802.11b/g standards.

In terms of security, the Belkin Pre-N router has WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) capabilities which is in fact a stronger security compared to WEP (Wired Equivalency Privacy). Apart from that, it also supports Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Network Address Translation (NAT), Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnel pass-through and a built-in Parental Control/Web Content Filter.

Just to give you an idea of how popular this product is; Belkin (at the time of this blog post) is temporarily out of stock due to overwhelming demand. The Pre-N router is available for a listed price of $159.99.

Isn’t it frustrating to hook on to weak wireless or WiFi signals; resulting in constant timeouts and signal disconnection? What you need is a wireless signal booster to increase the signal range. Stronger wireless signals will result in reliable Internet connection, higher data throughput and better surfing experience.

This is where the QuickerTek’s transceivers help in the above. Their tranceivers are WiFi compliant, supporting both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless protocols and works with Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS 10.x systems. As an example, imagine the power of QuickerTek’s iMac G5 tranceiver; taking Apple as a comparison, the iMac G5′s RF output is approximately 30mW while QuickerTek’s transceiver pumps out 500mW. Depending on your Apple models, you will experience 10 times the normal signal strength and/or an additional ½mile wireless range!

QuickerTek has transceivers for iMac, PowerMac, iBook, PowerBook, Mac Mini and Airport as well as the new MacBook Pro.

For more information and purchase details, visit QuickerTek’s website at <a href="http://www.quickertek.com/transceivers.php" target"_blank">www.quickertek.com.

That proved to be the best time for Mac users to upgrade and for Mac-to-be (switching form Windows) to purchase and get their hands on the petite but quite powerful machinery.

Now, for the same price, you will get the Mac Mini with 512MB of RAM for all models, AirPort Extreme wireless networking and Bluetooth on some models. Detailed specification are available from Apple’s Mac Mini page.

The laptop lock with alarm.

As an owner of a laptop, I know the worries of laptop theft if our assets are not protected. I have the luxury of a locked office and not too particularly bothered when I’m in the office. However, whenever I travel, that’s when the worries really set in. It’s not the laptop that matters but the information contained within. Traditional laptop locks are gullible to being cut in order to steal our precious iBook or PowerBook.

Here comes Kensington’s MicroSaver® Alarmed Lock to further enhance the security of our laptops. The lock comes with a 6feet aircraft-grade steel cable and an alarm that will immediately emit audible alarm sound (can be heard up to 50feet away) when cut. The drawback compared to a traditional lock is that the alarm itself is slightly bulky and requires a little more space in our travel packs. By the way, this lock can also be used to secure the Mac Mini, newer iMac, PowerMac and even flat panel monitors.

The Kensington MicroSaver® Alarmed Lock is available for $84.99 (MSRP) but the street price is circa $54.99.
You can get yours from Kensington or Amazon.com.
